Accomplishments:

As our first well bred purebred, Tavi has been our do-it-all dog. He is the first dog we have hunted over, and what a joy that has been. Because of Tavi we were introduced to NAVHDA and AKC hunt tests as well as the world of conformation. Though he began showing before the color black was accepted into the AKC standard, Tavi has excelled in every UKC and IABCA show he entered. When finally able to show at an AKC Specialty in the Veteran’s class, Tavi thrilled us by taking an incredible Award of Merit and Best of Breed Owner Handled.

Tavi’s joy for training and working also inspired us to become more active in dog sports. A firecracker as a young dog, he has settled into his role as man of the house very nicely as he has matured. Tavi is an extremely drivey and athletic boy, and he relishes in any opportunity to train for the many sports he enjoys. Dock diving, nosework, barn hunt, and agility are all things he excels at. 

In the field Tavi exudes drive and instinct. His bird work has always been a sight to behold, and judges and trainers who see him perform frequently comment on his beautiful, intense style. The ease with with Tavi can be handled by someone new to the bird dog world speaks volumes to his cooperative nature. Fast and flashy searching for upland game, he tracks wounded game methodically and performs tirelessly searching swampy areas for downed waterfowl. Tavi also has a wonderful soft mouth, allowing him to recover game without putting a feather or hair out of place. 

At home Tavi is the best friend we could ask for. In true Shorthair fashion, he is very much a Velcro dog who wants to spend his day by your side. He is the sweetest, kindness boy we know and it is a joy to share our lives with him. Though he was never bred, we know Tavi’s influence in our lives will continue to inspire our work to preserve the breed we so love. In this way his impact on our breeding program is incalculable.
